Music fans in the know have surely heard of The Hit Factory, a legendary NYC recording studio that hosted everyone from John Lennon and Bruce Springsteen to LL Cool J and Nas. Paul Simon actually recorded Graceland there. Well, in 2005 the music ended and this Broadway studio was converted into luxury condos. One of those was recently purchased by a young family, who favored Gallery’s full-service design-build approach when driving the complexities of their NYC condo renovation.
The bulk of our complete condo renovation focused on their kitchen, which required tearing down walls that closed-in the room to open up the space for a modern, practical design. Between the splashes of walnut cabinetry and cool gray quartz countertops from Cambria, the condo kitchen remodel was able to create a functional flow that makes the whole space more accessible. The custom millwork adds a traditional design touch with open-air storage, helping transition from the kitchen to the living space.

Although the fireplace naturally stood out, our clients’ goal was to make it the condo's proper focal point. To accomplish this, we brought in large porcelain platform tiles, delivering a textured metallic style that’s both modern and accessible. However, the eye-catching look didn’t come easily, as the complexity of the fine material required us to cut all pieces perfectly to size off-site, then bring them in via elevator - which wasn’t always reliable. The result is a stunning centerpiece that fortified their contemporary design goal.
